Undergraduate Program Overview
English Majors
The English Department offers two options for majors in English: “English” and “English Teaching.
The English Teaching Option leads to certification to teach in Secondary School. Students must apply to get into this program, typically in February of their sophomore year. Successful applicants complete an expanded English major and a minor in Secondary Education. All prospective English Teaching students should see an English Advisor and contact Adva Waranyuwat, the Director of all LAS programs in Secondary Education.
Rhetoric/Creative Writing Majors
The English Department offers a Rhetoric major which focuses on Creative Writing. The major provides students significant writing experience in workshop format, as well as foundational work in literary study.
