Undergraduate Scholarships & Prizes
A variety of scholarships are available to students in the Department of English. The purpose of all of these scholarships is to recognize and reward outstanding achievements by English or Rhetoric or Teaching of English students.
In order to be eligible for the scholarships associated with this application, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- enrolled as a full-time student in the Department of English
- minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.5/4.0
- minimum cumulative GPA of 3.75/4.00 in English courses
- by the end of the spring semester, must have completed a minimum of four English or Rhetoric courses beyond Composition I
- good standing with the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences
Applications will be made available in early spring semester, 2012.

- Raymond Seng Scholarship(s): Funding applied toward tuition and fees.
- Robert D. Novak Scholarship: Funding applied toward and tuition and fees.

- Delmar G. Cooke Scholarships
- Carolyn Joyce Pape Prize: (junior or senior standing).
- Emily J. Friedrich Memorial Scholarship

- Smalley Prize for Outstanding Honors Achievement awarded to the best English Honors Essay
- Carol Kyle Prize for Outstanding Honors Achievement awarded to the runner-up in the annual competition for the best English Honors Essay
