Undergraduate Scholarships, Prizes, and Competitions

English Department Undergraduate Scholarships

The Department of English offers a variety of merit scholarships in an annual competition in the spring.  These scholarships recognize and reward outstanding achievements by English, Rhetoric, or Teaching of English students.

In order to be eligible for the scholarships associated with this application, an applicant must:

  • enroll as a full-time student in the Department of English for at least one semester of the following academic year
  • have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.5/4.0
  • have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.75/4.0 in English courses
  • by the end of the spring semester, have completed a minimum of four English, Creative Writing, or Rhetoric courses beyond Composition I
  • be in good standing with the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences

The deadline for submsisions for the 2014 Undergraduate Creative Writing Awards is noon on Monday, March 3, 2014. Instructions for submitting your work may be found here.
